Psychotherapy and Counselling

My name is Frankie Pittwright, and I am a qualified psychotherapist, counsellor, and life story work therapist with many years of experience. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a foster carer and support worker, giving me extensive experience in supporting people through difficult times. I am also a proud queer woman and actively engage in work with the LGBTQ+ community.
I draw inspiration from various types of psychotherapy and believe that the relationship between the therapist and the client is of utmost importance. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and work as a contractor for the local authority, in addition to seeing clients privately.

Welcome to my therapy practice, where I provide a safe and affirming space specifically for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals and those who are care experienced. With extensive experience addressing issues such as childhood trauma, minority stress, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, relationship challenges, and grief, I am dedicated to helping you navigate these complexities.
At the heart of my approach lies a deep commitment to understanding identity, which empowers you to make sense of your past and envision a fulfilling future. A strong therapeutic alliance characterised by trust, empathy, and compassion forms the foundation of our work together. I integrate a diverse array of therapeutic techniques, including CBT, DBT, creative therapies, narrative therapy, and sand tray modalities, tailored to meet your unique needs. My mission is to equip you with essential skills to serve you well beyond our sessions, guiding you toward a more empowered and authentic life. Let’s embark on this transformative journey together.
“The whole process was outstanding, exceeding my expectations as a parent”
Adoptive parent

I specialise in the areas of fostering and adoption. This part of my work is informed by my time as a foster carer and my insight into what it is like to be part of the system in the UK, as well as my psychotherapeutic understanding of attachment difficulties and childhood trauma.
I often see foster carers, guardians and adoptive parents who feel in need of therapeutic support, as well as people who are or have themselves been adopted or fostered and those who have had children taken into care.
This work is very flexible and I may work with more than one family member at a time to help you build deeper trust and understanding of each other. I often offer creative ways of therapy for people who find a ‘talking therapy’ approach off-putting.
“I am very pleased with the sessions and am very fortunate for the introduction and subsequent therapy”

Therapeutic Life Story Work
Life Story Work is designed to help people who have experienced childhood abuse and trauma to reflect on their experiences, develop compassion for themselves and move on with hope for the future.
It is recommended that everyone who has experienced adoption or foster care has Therapeutic Life Story Work to help them make sense of what has happened in their lives.
In the course of my work I have found it to be a positive and transformative experience for many clients, resolving long held questions and enabling people to move on from the past.
