Therapeutic Life Story Work

Life Story Work is a therapeutic approach aimed at assisting individuals who have experienced childhood abuse and trauma, which can often lead to adoption, foster care, or time spent in children’s homes. The goal of this approach is to help you reflect on your experiences, cultivate self-compassion, and nurture hope for the future.

It is highly recommended that anyone who has undergone adoption or foster care participate in Therapeutic Life Story Work to gain a better understanding of their life experiences. This process involves researching past events, including accessing social work files and any other relevant documentation that you or your family may have. The information gathered is used to create a timeline of your experiences, often starting before your birth. This timeline offers insight into the circumstances of previous generations that may have contributed to the abuse you faced.

In my professional experience, I have found that this process can be both positive and transformative for many clients. It often resolves long-held questions and helps individuals move beyond their past difficulties.
